“No she’s not.” Kinsey replied and quickly looked away when her father looked in their direction. “What the hell did we just walk into?” Kinsey inquired taking a sip of her brew and trying to maintain a sense of indifference the other patrons had.

[Jack Ryder]

"No idea, but that Carly... seemed a tad older than the one we left and I saw a ring on her finger, but... that's not the important thing, important is to observe that woman." Jack whispered and sipped his brew. "Make out with me, you can watch her without them watching us. I'd read her mind but I don't want to out ourselves just yet... "

“You just want me to make out with you.” Kinsey smirked but she was still tense.

The pair made their way passed Jack and Kinsey’s table. Her father nodding at them as he passed. He seemed to pause and do a double take of Kinsey before shaking his head and following after the woman.

“We should go.” Kinsey said and drained her glass.

Jack whispered as he kissed her neck. "Yes to the making out but no... there was a reason we came here." he glanced at the woman. "What if... she's your mother? That is very clearly your walk when you're trying to be imposing." he caught Kinsey's look. "I watch your arse far more than I should. Also the only way I could tell you from K'n'zy for a while, she was used to walking in high heels, you're a flats girl."

“No.” Kinsey said with a shake of her head as she looked at the woman. The woman’s hair reminded her of Carly’s and her own. Always appearing kept when it wasn’t. Then their was the look her father had given her. He saw the similarities in a glance. “It’s not possible.”

[Jack Ryder]

"Why not?" Jack whispered over his mug as he took a sip and glanced at them. "How many others here can do what you do? And no that's not a future you either, she's young... probably younger than us right now."

[Kinsey Calhoun]

Kinsey watched the pair, stole Jack’s mug, and downed it.

“Then what happened to her? Why did he marry Keria’s mother and why did they pretend she was mine?” Kinsey inquired trying to keep her voice calm.

[Jack Ryder]

"Maybe she pissed off the wrong person and didn't possess your... functional immortality." Jack whispered. "You got bloody lucky more than once luv. Do you have any relatives we can pass ourselves off as? At least something that won't get us found out but explain why you look familiar to them? There's always a cousin that everyone knows of but hasn't seen in 20 years."

She shook her head no and even if there was a cousin this woman would know they were lying. So would her father he seemed to have a sixth sense for when she told him a lie.

“I don’t understand the deception. He could have told me she wasn’t my mother...it explains why she hated me so much.”

A server appeared with two fresh pints and sat them on the table.

“Who is the woman with Korba?” Kinsey inquired laying several coins on the table.

The server eyed the coins for a moment then glanced at Jack then back at the coins.

“Tali’Zorha. Rumor has it she’s from the deep desert.” The server said in a lowered voice as he glanced back at the pair. “People say Korba found her near the edge of the pit. They say those in the deep cast her out because she’s possessed by the evil gods. Some even say she’s come to bewitch him and kill us all.”

“What do you say?” Kinsey inquired laying her hand over the coins.

“That she’s from the deep and has powers no one else does.” The server replied shifting uneasily. “Korba is never far from her and...you look like her.”

Kinsey pulled her hand away from the coins and picked up her mug. The server didn’t linger he snatched up the coins and hurried off.

“No one lives in the deep anymore.” Kinsey said more to herself then Jack as she sipped at her glass.

"Interesting..." Jack said with a hum and took a sip of the brew in the mug he held onto. "I don't know about you, but I'm rather fascinated by this woman. Would explain a lot about you and our children. I mean, the Siofran DNA in my system is one 'excuse' for their power level, but you came into this telepathic and mildly telekinetic, and now..." he looked at Korba. "Your father never met me, so it's not as if we're messing up our timelines. Of course, if the Pit is as I have long suspected, time means very little to those near it. Remember, you saw Carly before we ever met her and she came back here. Drink your drink... get some liquid courage. There was a reason why we were drawn here."
