Star Trek: Terra Alpha

Nick was sifting through the security footage of the attack that killed his father, then he got a covert message from Cece and Clint on the status of Sigma Station. It was a station that tracked and monitored ships past the core of the Terra Alpha system.

"You don't have to check it out Nick, we have a fleet and a million agents and officers." Tess said as she looked over his shoulder. "Get some rest..."

"Can't... Sigma's important... and if what Cece sent me about Magus' ship being missing, then that station not being online is a problem." Nick said and saw the look on her face. "Alright... I'll call in someone." he pulled out his communicator. "James? Yeah... it's Nick Ryder. Get Selene on the line."

"Mo-oooom! It's President Nick... are you here or are you 'on mission'?" James called out.

"On mission?" Nick raised an eyebrow.

"Our code for on the toilet..." James whispered.

"I use Security Conference Call." Nick whispered back.

"Sir, terribly sorry to hear what happened to your father. I'm in the process of..." Jon started to say as he walked past James on the wall communications system.

"Jon... later. I need to talk to your mother in law." Nick said and sighed. "I've got a mission for her."

"James go pick on Bella." Selene said as she walked over to the com unit.

"I heard that." Bella called from somewhere off screen.

Selene gently steered the boy away as she placed a wireless ear piece in her ear placing the unit on private mode.

"Tell me this is over so I can get out of here." Selene said with a glance over her shoulder. "James has been far to serious since Mackenize has been gone, Bella keeps pacing, and Jon looks like a man with nothing to do. And to think I thought a bored Calhoun was to much."

"I need to build Jon something like my lab." Nick replied dryly. "Yeah, you are a go. Small team, St. James apparently put the kibosh on sending Marines, so we need to keep this calm and quiet. Find out why the station's dark and why there's no one securing it." he sighed. "If it's safe, figure out where the Narlin flagship is. May as well tell you this, this is under the auspices of my new agency. Foster got some of the legwork done with finding new agents and getting it legitimized, but we're Alpha Division. Basically the new Section 31. Plausible deniability. Black ops resources. The works. We aren't replacing SHIELD, but people like you and me... we're not able to fit into Naval or Government Intel so easily." he looked closer at Selene. "I trusted your daughter with my government and I can't think of another agent that I want on my team."

“The fact that you’re tell me tells me you haven’t told Clint yet.” Selene said as she crossed her arms and smirked at him. “It’s not a mission I’d be his first choice to send on either considering he put me on babysitting duty.”

"Nope... because I think Clint would probably say 'no' and if living with a women like Julie Lei, there is very little that will stop a master spy from doing their job." Nick replied. "That and I am sure you're ready to rip your hair out... which looks lovely today Agent Cross."

Selene raised an eyebrow, “You don’t have to kiss my ass. You already knew my answer before you called. You have to make two promises though you babysit and tell Clint after I’ve left. Otherwise he’ll want to come and one of us needs to stay here with Kaitlyn.”

"Jon and Isabella can watch Kaitlyn... " Nick replied. "If you need anyone else, call them in. I'm still at the Hospital, Operation Sigma is your's Selene. I trust you. By the way your baby sister is gorgeous. At least dad saw her before... before..." he choked up a little. "Guess there was good thing that happened to him before the end."

Selene reached over to end the called and paused considering something before she withdrew her hand.

“I never had a grandfather before.” Selene said lowering her voice so she couldn’t be overheard. “When we find the son of a bitch he’ll hurt. I’ll make sure of it.”

"I would prefer taken alive, but like the saying goes 'you'll be amazed what you can live through'. Leave enough to question. Legs, arms, expendable." Nick said coldly. "I feel like someone just reached into my gut and pulled out my stomach. Sigma may be unrelated but it's just too damn cooincidental. Oh and Selene... if you CAN get in touch with the Emperor's ship, don't... don't tell Teri, that dad's dead. She doesn't know you, should come from family. They were still dating when she came over."

Selene nodded, “When do you want me to leave?”
