Standing 6’5” Kahlina is average height for her race. She has innumerable scars that she hides under her clothes. Athletic and slender she moves with the grace and speed.

History:
Youngest of eight, Kahlina Starbreeze was born just before the Narlin Civil war. Her father was killed in the opening hours of the rebellion and her oldest brother and sister were both killed a few days later as the Gorvon, a reptilian member race, purged over a million Narlin civilians from their homeworld.

At the age of seven her home in Bakara was bombed killing her mother and an older sister. Her only surviving sibling was serving on a cruiser protecting the boarder moons. This left the young Kahlina without family or a home, hungry and scared she joined one of the many gangs that plagued the capital city.

There she learned how to fight as she worked for the “Guild” leader by stealing food, clothes, and anything else he wanted. Over the next five years she saw her home city crumble into ruin as utilities failed. Law enforcement and government officials joined the war, and left the city a lawless killing zone.

Kahlina was among the thousands of survivors who fled the city only to find the suburbs, and country side just as unforgiving. The few farms and settlements could not support the mass of refugees, and many fell into madness. Thousands died of starvation and a few resorted to cannibalism.

Just before her 13th birthday and after a year of wandering across the plains she came to a small regiment pushing to regain Bakara. They clothed and fed her. None of their supplies were new. Most soldiers got a new uniform when a friend fell in battle. You got your first rifle when you killed your first Gorvan.

Her life on the streets taught her to be tough. She was cold, calculating, and almost callous in battle. There were several times when she should have been restrained as she eliminated her enemies… But, her comrades turned a blind eye as many felt the same deep hatred.

However, as the years passed she matured, and she learned to control her rage and those around her. She was rewarded by her superiors and rose through the ranks quickly. At 16 she received a battlefield commission to the rank of ensign making her the youngest officer in the Narlin Royal Army.

After the Gorvon were forced from Talaria, Kahlina was transferred aboard the INS Victory to serve as company commander. 88th Centuria, 5th Legion, which became known as the “Demon Dogs”. 7 out of 10 lost their lives, and every member received a battle wound at some point. Kahlina received so many injuries that command finally transferred her out to the unit with a promotion to Sub-commander just before the end of the war. She served out the remainder of the war aboard the INS Youlan training recruits in combat.

Following the war the Narlin Royal Army disbanded most of the officers and soldiers from service, no longer able to support the military under an economy no longer giving 100% to the war effort.

Kahlina was sent to Earth on an officer training program at Starfleet Academy. There she learned engineering basics, starship operations, and command. It was the hope of the newly Organized Narlin Imperial Defense Force, that officers like Kahlina would help modernize the fleet.

After completing training at Starfleet Academy she was offered a position at outpost Byron under Starfleet’s Officer lend-lease program.
