The Way Out is Through

[Clint Cross]

"Yeah... I've seen a Jackson's brutality... it's not pretty." Clint replied. "Although this Dominus... is sadistic like your Jackson. He branded my daughter Solara all over her body with a letter 'D'. Some right in the middle of her forehead, others on... various parts of the body that should not have that happen to. It took weeks... months to remove the damage and I'm sure she's still got the PTSD from it all." he shook his head. "It still makes me sick that a version of the man that built this entire world could be such a dick in other realities."

[Liara]

“If it brings a measure of comfort I took my time with him.” Selene informed him a hint of a smile on her lips.

[Clint Cross]

"So... how DID you do that? The bastard's got clones and alternates, so we've been worried it'd be like a shell game." Clint replied and parked the car and looked at her. "Our's has some weird electricity based abilities... which is funny since Nick Ryder in this reality is fire based. Same with his wife Alice. Fire extinguishers were go to gifts for a little while."

[Liara]

“He didn’t as for the abilities they seem to be centered around his hands. So I removed them first.” Selene told him sounding a bit proud of herself. “He seemed upset about it so must something to it.”

[Clint Cross]

"Well that'd stop anyone but that's a good tactic." Clint agreed. "Should train with these light sword things, they can cut through pretty much anything. It's kind of funny, when I was going through special ops training, they had me train with this weird collapsible sword/machete, but that was just one instructor. Here on Terra Alpha, early on they started making knife training, slug thrower training and other more 'tactile' weapons our first line, phasers are too easily depowered or blocked."

[Liara]

“It’s smart.” Selene said as she glanced around the garage. “How long do you think the debriefing will take?”

[Clint Cross]

"We'll keep it short." Clint said as he got out of the car. "Maybe we'll grab some carryout on the way back to my place. You can sample my cooking once I've got a kitchen that isn't covered in plastic. In any case, we need to get stuff down while it's fresh up here. And talk to this Tanaka guy. Luckily we've got a safe house not far from here he can hang out in."

[Liara]

“Sounds good.” Selene said, glancing around the garage as she joined him. Without warning, she pushed him against SUV and kissed him roughly as she pressed her body against in invitation. Then just as suddenly she pulled away.
“Motivation.” Selene whispered and walked away like nothing happened.

Clint licked his lips and smiled as he watched her walk away. He was definitely not going to take his time in the office. In so many ways, it was like a reset of his relationship with Selene, but... almost a little better. He understood her better now and while this Selene was still so so very different, there was that playfulness that he loved.

Jogging a bit to catch up to her, he cleared his throat. "JT and Mac will have a SHIELD back up for theirs... I don't think they're going to have quite the same mission we had." he tapped his thumb to the wall plate for the elevator. "We had more fun."

"We did." Selene said smirking. "I beat you by the way."
