"I've thought about that too." Selene confessed. "I...they came for me. Someone I wanted to believe who was dead. What if they try again? Being here and being with you...I don't want to go back there Clint. I might fear it more than that fucking box."

Clint nodded his head and kissed her head. "Then we don't let that happen. You want to know why the Selene I knew and I got along so well? I defended her even when others didn't want to touch her. It wasn't some sappy thing. It wasn't even about the sex. Because I know what it's like to feel abandoned and i know what it's like to have someone stick their neck out for you. I'm here for you until I can't move. Even then, at least mentally I'll be with you, even if I'm some broken, bleeding pulp. I felt like I failed Selene even when it was just an utterly random act that killed her by a total psycho bitch. You almost got taken back by that asshole that called himself your father. Yet your 'dad' defended you and protected you. Fed you ice cream with a broken communicator. I really forgot how much he had changed and how much compassion that man has now." he kissed her neck and smiled. "And how much badassness you have within you too y'know... you may have froze, but you didn't break. You didn't run away. And y'know what... you also learned that you have a family here that you never had. A boyfriend, a dad... hell even siblings. You have something to fight for now."

Selene turned in his arms as she wiped at a tear.

“I don’t know what I would have done if he’d hurt you.” Selene said as she looked into his eyes. “I...care for you a lot Clint. I’ve never cared for anyone before.”

[Clint Cross]

"I care for you a lot too and... if anything DID happen to me... make whoever punched my ticket pay for it and then... keep yourself open for finding someone that'll care for you. As long as it's not that psychopath Bartyn... anyone else, I entirely give ya my blessin'." Clint looked into her eyes. "That's what bein' partners is... we watch out for each other, take care of each other."

Selene kissed him deeply, that feeling she couldn’t put into words growing even more. She never wanted to let him go despite every piece of her training. Some how this man had become more important to her then it and there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do to protect him and his family. Even that strange hologram.

[Clint Cross]

Clint just looked into her eyes after she kissed him and smiled. "So is it a foregone conclusion that I should probably get a new mattress for the King sized bed at the house, because you're going to be sticking around me for a while?" he raised an eyebrow.

“I think that’s a safe conclusion.” Selene said with a smile.

[Clint Cross]

"I'll make sure Rommie orders one." Clint said and kissed her lips and sighed happily. "So... how about we actually walk the beach, we can take the champagne with us. Pretty sure you haven't done that yet."

“Sounds good. I can pull on that nice little wrap around that you like so much.” Selene said with a grin.

"I'd like that... " Clint said and held her hands. "I just realized it's been ages since I've actually taken anyone on an actual romantic walk. For a while, we just sort of stuck to a hotel room or the house. Y'know... I'm going to say this now, let's try to do stuff like this more often. Put in the effort and just spend time together, no work no mission... no kids, just the two of us. "
