Another Crashed Car

[Nick Ryder]

"Yes ma'am." Nick said with a nod of his head and walked back out into the living room. "Alright ladies... we need to take care of a few things, Director Decker... make this go away. Detective... this isn't anything that needs any more attention. We'll be in touch." he cocked his head to Alice and Gale. "C'mon... let's go and take a drive."

Nick whispered to Alice. "We drop Gale with Bella and leave the car there. Since you don't want me to take tech, we take that old Indian cycle that I left in the Compound garage that Marcus built and has pretty much zero tech on it, besides a clock."

[Alice Ryder]

"No Nicholas, I said Cross not Price." Alice whispered back with a smirk. "Keep up my love."

"Alright... your call." Nick agreed. "So then... which vehicle from the livery are we taking then? Unless we're going to walk the 20 miles."

"It doesn't matter we don't need it after Clint's." Alice said. "But one of the less used ones and one you're less attached to."

[Nick Ryder]

"That pickup that I can't get anyone to take off my hands." Nick replied and held her hand. "So... how long have you had this plan in mind?"

"Since Jackson." Alice admitted. "I had to modify it a bit when we moved but still the same."

[Nick Ryder]

"I should have moved us all underground after that. Still... never expected this and I'm paranoid." Nick said and squeezed her hand. "Well, I'd give up all this, to keep you and the kid and for us to all be together."

“Let me know if you feel the same way once you know where we’re going.” Alice said chuckling softly. “Oh Nicholas you can’t anticipate everything and I would never have survived being stuck underground all the time.”

"True enough." Nick agreed. "Seriously Alice... remember my background, I wasn't always the guy in the chair or on a starship. I spent plenty of time in low places and plenty of time cut off from my usual resources, which only made me create new resources. We're both intelligent, resourceful people who just happen to be able to generate fire."

“Me too!” Gale said with a giggle.

“Yes you can but you must be very careful.” Alice warned as they reached the pickup truck. “We aren’t going to see Bella, Gale, there maybe people we don’t want to know about how special you are.”
