"Thing is... I feel like if I don't use it, even for mundane tasks, I won't have the control I need when I need it. I... I... snapped someone's neck with it when I was trying to help them, pulled too much. Bellatrix was pleased I 'put them out of their misery' but I was not intending on doing that. I don't want to hurt someone when I'm trying to help. Use too much when I should have used a little or used too little when I should have used more. It's still very new to me. "And it figures the two most evil versions of you and Grandpa Nick... are the ones who spent months having a sexual relationship with the intention of having heirs. Rumor had it when we left they were successful and they do have Imperium time dilation field tech, for all we know their children are already grown and trained."

"It's certainly possible," Rebecca said with a shrug. "The ijulna has been clouded to me for sometime now, and I can't say that I care for that much. It's very disconcerting."

"I think Bellatrix and Dominus like the chaos it brings. They seem to have no problem using it for their ends." Trinity replied and looked at her hand. "Grandpa Nick made a really good hand, hardly even think that it's not real." she looked at her wedding ring and looked at Becca. "Fake can be real, real can be fake. The Ajem are masters at making their form of 'truth' seem real. She's killed more Jase'dasis who didn't see it coming until it was too late. It's almost as if, trying to meditate on the future is a losing battle. Which it kind of is... here and now needs to be the focus, I thought I could manipulate things to ensure my future never came about - but that's nearly impossible, we did change things, for the better is debatable depending on who you asked. We didn't lose Trill and we actually got the Imperium to stand down. But tell that to the rest of Ethan's unit that was blown out of the sky on Vulcan. Tell that to the surviving families... "

"Ethan did his duty, and so did everyone else that died in the war. When you sign up for the fleet or the Marines you accept that that is a possible future. Even as a Sheriff's Deputy," she added leveling her gaze on Trinity. "Did the events you fled happen? No, then you were successful in your mission. Now, you are cursed like the rest of us in the ignorance of the future. What those two do is beyond our control, and it is our job as ijulna users to bring balance. Even our deaths do that."

"I suppose, except I guess I'm a tad more sensitive to it now since I was the one that signed the condolence letters for both mom and for Ethan. We already lost a few of our guys in just training accidents. I hate those the most... not even in actual combat, but like... dumb death. Opened the wrong valve on a shuttle engine and took about a million degrees of super heated plasma, barely left enough to ID. Or in a bar brawl. Or hell I had one of the Maori guys get septic shock from getting cut with a k-bar that dropped out of another guy's belt and there was some bacteria from Byron that must have gotten past the antiseptic filters and he died four days later." she sighed. "Can't really prevent those but it still hurts. I still care about people, maybe even more deeply than I did before since I can actual 'feel' their presence in the Iljuna now. Since I saw the casual way Bellatrix's people just... disposed of people."

"That's the difference between her and you. You actually value life. She does not." Rebecca shrugged, "I'm not sure what is worse. To Bellatrix murder is a tool. A means to a goal. To Dominus it's for sport. He does it because he likes it. Dominus would have attacked the Erebus and killed everyone on the ship, but Bellatrix didn't do that did she? She impersonated me, and kept the body count to a minimum and tricked you into coming with you."

"Well to be fair, I was still high off my ass on painkillers." She held up her artificial hand. "Only the second time in my life I was that high. First time was with Ethan. We were ambushed by Imperium snipers, dove to avoid being shot, broke my tibia. One of the guys had some really powerful narcotics in his kit bag. That was the most pain I'd ever been in at that point. Losing my hand didn't hurt as much as the new bionics. Thought that was the worst pain ever. Hah... the Artist's handiwork... that was the worst pain ever."

"You know I'll take you up on it." Trinity said as she went over to a wooden cabinet and pulled out her sidearm and loaded a clip into its handle. "Shall we go and check on Kat? Then we can go and bug Aimee." Noting Becca's expression with the weapon. "Anduvian Bats." she said as she put the pistol in her boot. "Bodies are about a foot long with two foot wings and they're biters. Some asshat imported them about six months ago, they're breeding. Kill the fuckers on sight. They don't belong in our ecosystem and they infect the livestock with a parasite that causes rapid weight loss and muscle atrophy. Planet they came from, they feed on some lizard that breeds faster than tribbles."
