It Ain't Easy...

“Yes,” Kinsey said as she activated the blade and plunged into his heart and through the bulkhead.

[Dominus]

"See... Destiny... that should... be your new name... K'n'zy..." Dominus said as he coughed up blood. "Just as it is your people's... to die."

[Kinsey Calhoun]

“We’ll see about that.” Kinsey said as she watched the life drain from Dominus’s eyes. She hadn’t seen the attack in his mind but there were multiple Dominus alternates one of them could be with a fleet of Brethren headed for Xenex. She couldn’t think about it now not until they were off the station and out of Pythus.

[Jack Ryder]

"Alright... everyone on the pod... that includes you two." Jack said to Becca and J'Larin, "Live to fight another day I always say, unless you're them... then they can die whenever they feel like it." he took Kinsey's arm. "Come on luv... we'll drop these lot off and we'll pop over to Xenex, make sure that Dominus doesn't have a fleet there already."

She nodded scooping up her helmet.

“I didn’t see if I’m his mind but that doesn’t mean anything.” Kinsey said as she glanced back at Dominus’s corps. “He hid you from me and our children.”

[Jack Ryder]

"Not surprising, there are telepathic dampers all around, gave me an awful bloody headache." Jack said as he sighed. "Now let's see if I can actually navigate this sector in this thing." he cocked his head slightly. "Once we get the passengers off this pod... although I am sure my father will want to give you a bear hug for rescuing me. After he breaks at least a rib or two on me first."

“I just killed several men who look like your father. I’ll pass on bear hugs at the moment.”

[Jack Ryder]

"Good point." Jack said and kissed her cheek. "God I missed you. Felt like an eternity."

[Rebecca Talon]

"Better part of valor" Ja'larin agreed.

Rebecca kept into the air landing on the shoulders of a Dominus, and plunged her kliden straight down. She did a midair cartwheel to dodge a fireball landing in a backward slide on three points.

Doing a backflip she severed the head of the one behind her. His fireball struck down a third Dominus. Breathing hard the two Jase'dasis backed towards the pod. "I'm getting too old for this," Rebecca said panting.

"I'm a good decade older than you my friend." She deflected a fireball ijulna. Rebecca did the same for one aimed for Kinsey.


Finally they were to the pod. They were the last ones as they clambered inside. Rebecca deactivated her kliden and hooked it to her belt. Ja'larin stood in the entrance motionless.

"Master?"

Ja'larin blinked surprised. "I..." Her kliden slipped out of her hand and fell to the pod's floor with a hallow clatter. The Cardassian stared down at her hand disbelieving. "What? My hand isn't working."

"It's fine," Rebecca pleaded. "The doc will take care of you. Let's go okay?"

"I don't think I can..." The Jase'dasis master pitched forward falling face first. A circular burn still slowly smoldered what was left of her back. Rebecca looked back out the airlock as it closed as saw one of the Dominus' watching, and grinning with satisfaction.

“Ja’larin!” Kinsey exclaimed as she rushed to her side. The whole was massive and the smell of burnt flesh filled the air. “I’m sorry Rebecca.” Kinsey said softly.
