“Yes something’s I don’t need to know.” Kinsey said and called after him. “Pay for fresh sheets.”

"That's a bloody given." Jack said with a knowing expression. For as much as he tried to be the rough and ready Xenexian mate, comfortable in the desert and in caves, fresh sheets were something he learned long ago that he didn't skimp on. He approached the inn keeper and handed over a few more coins than the room was worth.

"Fresh sheets... my mate doesn't like to lay in someone else's leavings." Jack said in Xenexian.

"Couple more coins and I'll have a girl wait on you hand and foot." he chuckled.

"I think we'll be fine." Jack glanced around. "Something away from others. She likes it quiet."

He handed off a key. "Quiet as you get around here." he shrugged his shoulders. "She looks like a screamer."

"She's taken thankyouverymuch..." Jack said and gave him a tiny headache for his comment.

“You know that was a compliment.” Kinsey smirked appearing behind Jack with two bottles of homebrew. “But I do love it when you get possessive.”

[Jack Ryder]

Jack smiled and put his arm across her shoulders. "I just never like it when people think of you as just a hot piece of ass... although my dear wife, you are still just as stunning as the day I met you in that bar all those years ago." he chuckled lightly. "Y'know... the way she looked at that one guy, that so reminds me of Mac when she's upset, that little nose wrinkle she does. You do it sometimes too, but she does it a lot more."

Kinsey laughed, “So does Carly.”

[Jack Ryder]

"She sure does. We made some cute kids. Even if Carly isn't 'technically' our's." Jack sighed and squeezed her hand. "I think I'm so into finding out more about her, because well... I was an adult when I found out who my real mother and her family was. Why I had these abilities that my siblings don't really have and why our particular mixing seems to produced children much like us. That doesn't always happen." he looked at his wedding band, battered, scraped and scuffed. "I wonder... do you think perhaps the reason why she wasn't a part of your life, at least that you knew of, and your father seemed to resent you... that she or he for that matter were promised to others? Or she ditched him and left you with the woman you thought of as your mother?"

“I don’t know.” Kinsey said softly as they started up the stairs. “I was never close to my mother. She was always distant and my father...I thought he loved me. Maybe he really didn’t have a choice when I married Ker’ken.”

[Jack Ryder]

"Well whatever the truth is, we'll face it like we faced everything else we've had to. At least we'll be finding it out together. Imagine if you found this out by yourself? I suspect there would be a lot more empty bottles of homebrew." Jack chuckled lightly. "Speaking of... there's something in the brew we had, something that isn't in the stuff you or the others make. Can't put my finger on it."

Kinsey laughed as she lead him down the hall toward their room.

“You may not want to know.”

"Probably." Jack said with a smirk. "Still, it wasn't entirely bad. Your's is still better. Especially the stuff you make now."
