Homecoming

After the deaths of so many, it is time to rally and fight back. The Alliance is put through it's greatest test since it's founding, but can it retain its soul and the ideals they fought so long and hard to uphold? Will the darkness overtake the light? Will the Alpha and Beta Quadrants be the same when the dust settles?

"Tell me about it." Kalia said as she walked in. "Hey Ethan, Mrs. Ackers... Dougal." she narrowed her eyes at him. "Thanks for transcribing your report in some weird Gaelic accent. Dick." she muttered and grabbed a mug that said 'Kalia's Mug of Doom' from the shelf. "So Colonel... you actually going to come into work any time this century or are you and the General going to see if your bed frame really does have a lifetime warranty?"

"Hello Kalia... with the snark right out of the gate." Trinity said with a chuckle. "Missed you too."

"Aww... missed you too. Seriously. I missed you. You were just training me on how your office runs and then you go off and get yourself captured for six months. So damn inconvenient. I took my complaint up the food chain to the General but he laughed it off. Typical. We need more girl power around the Corps. You'll like some of the new recruits I got for you. More than give the boys a run for their money. Maori contingent really came through, course I personally think it's because of my islander name. Guess mom gave me ONE good thing after all. Anyhoo... Pinky's all polished up. Was pretty sure you'd want to take her out. And I meant the truck, not the Porsche. Because someone forgot to put wood under her tires, she's sunk in the mud."

"Yeah... well... that was next on my to-do list." Trinity said and snapped her fingers. "So, Ethan told me you were a big help."

"And I totally did not hit on him. Honest." Kalia put her hand on her heart.

"I believe you... besides... way more your type in on base anyway." Trinity said as she finished her breakfast. "So do you normally have your breakfast here?"

"Yeah... Mrs. Ackers and I are working on a project of sorts." Kalia admitted. "And I am finding out I am a terrible cook and someone let it slip that all I eat is instant ramen and protein bars. She's teaching me how to cook."

"Well, Aimee's trying her hand at breakfast. I best be getting back. She'll no be too pleased if I miss it."

Ethan nodded, "Sure thing. We'll see you in a bit. I'm going to ride Jake over. He's full of piss and vinagar, and I need to work it out of him before David shoots him."

"I'll head over after I'm done with Kat." Trinity said as she got up and put the plates in the dish washer. "Besides, I was going to bring her some thing I had hidden away and I only vaguely remember where I hid it."

"I made her twins some outfits, I hid them because I didn't want you thinking I was already pregnant or something. And don't give me that look Ethan Michael Talon, you know you would have had that shit eatin' grin for days and then as our luck would have it, Aimee would be around and the surprise would be ruined, because then it would look like I was giving her something I intended for us or that I didn't need. I actually sewed them myself. Mom isn't the only seamstress in the family."

Erhan laughed, "I'm a big boy. You could've just told me." He stood and gave Mrs. Ackers a peck on the cheek, "Thanks for breakfast."

She blushed, "Get out of here you old flirt." Slapping him playfully on the shoulder, "It's what you pay me for isn't it?"

Ethan chuckled, "Yeah, I reckon I do." He paused at the back kitchen door and lifted his beat uo work Stetson off the peg. "Trin you want me to saddle you a horse or are you going to drive over there?"

"I'll take Pinky the truck... since Kalia was so nice to get her ready." Trinity said with a smile and grabbed a set of keys off the peg board on the wall. "Y'know what, I'll worry about the baby clothes later, I need to do a drive around the property and break a few traffic laws on the highway." she opened up a drawer and rummaged around for her old Deputy badge. "There it is. I feel better about lying to authority... guess I picked up some bad things from the Ajem... but pfft... they deputized me because I had speeding tickets to work off."

"Good to be home." Trinity said as she kissed his cheek. "Kalia, thanks for getting my truck ready." she said with a smile and headed out the back door to her customized pick up truck, the dark magenta and pink paint was gleaming in the sun. It was a little thing, but she felt safer being outside surrounded by metal, especially metal that had ballistics grade armor beneath the sheet metal.

There was still a part of her that worried that the Ajem'dasis were still after her. Even in the safety of the Ranch, she still feared they would come and get her. She looked over at Kat who was admiring the view of the mountain.

"Hey Kat... hop in." Trinity opened the door for her. "Great view isn't it? Mount Ryder, tallest range on the planet. Might actually climb her in the fall, when the mosquito population isn't so brutal."
