When it Happens (Don't Mind Me)

[Liara]

“Over here.” Joe said as he hobbled over to the bar and grabbed it.

“If I knew my appearance would disarm you, I would have just led with that.” Selene said with a smirk.

“Here.” Joe said he handed the medkit to Clint. “Whisky or bourbon?” He added in a whisper.

[Clint Cross]

"Bourbon of course." Clint said and raised an eyebrow at this new Selene. "So... you're from one of the realities that Tali lived in... interesting." he grabbed the Medkit and tossed Joe the smaller dermal regenerator for his cut while he took out the tricorder and scanned Selene's wound. "How'd you get here? I thought Jack only retrieved Tali?"

[Liara]

“I came through just as they were leaving. It took me a week to walk to Calhoun.” Selene said as Joe sat Clint’s drink on the bar next to him. She watched him pull down a martini glass and fill a shaker with ice then mix several liquors into a shaker. “After that it wasn’t hard to figure out where they went. The hard part was getting here. There went a lot of ships coming to Terra Alpha from Xenex. Not civilian transports anyway.”

“Here try this trust me you’ll like it.” Joe said as he placed a Cosmo next to her. It was one of Selene Cross’ favorite mixed drinks.

Selene picked it up and took a sip, wincing slightly.

“You’re right I do like it.” She said with a smile. “Anyway…the ship I ended up on was a military ship. Part of their defense force, I think. Ended up in a skirmish of some kind and I took some shrapnel when a console exploded. Thought I got it all and had it patched up guess not.”

[Clint Cross]

"Yeah that's why we're going more holographic, damn glass tops leave a lot of shrapnel." Clint said and pulled out a small device that removed the left over foreign matter. "I'm scary good at doing this kind of first aid. So... I guess I should tell you, since you'll find out sooner than later and you deserve to know." he gestured to a spot in the bar. "Your counterpart here, my partner... my wife. Was killed right over there by Ophelia, one of Dominus' and Bellatrix's hellspawn." he finished patching up the wound and smiled as the skin healed. "Always wondered if there was another one of her out there. I'm Clint, Clint Cross. Director of Naval Intelligence. Formerly the Agent known as Hawkeye... that call sign belongs to my greatest student. Although I do go by Hawkguy in the field."

[Liara]

“And here I thought I’d acquired a new skill set.” Selene joked and frowned. “I’m sorry about your wife.”

[Clint Cross]

"I'm sorry too... we were as close as any two people could be. But we were both assassins and agents and nearly died more than a few times before." Clint said as he took a sip of his drink. "We always knew that it would happen someday. Always sort of wished it was me, I have no idea what I'm doing raising a little kid. Luckily our... older daughter has amazing maternal instinct. Long story."

[Liara]

“When you’re done patching me up I’ll leave. I only came to make sure Tali was alright.” Selene said as she picked up her drink and took a long sip. It really was one of the best things she’d ever had. How had she never had this before? Items of pleasure weren’t something she’d ever had time to be concerned about. “If she’s happy then there is no point in me sticking around.”

[Clint Cross]

"And where would you go? Your counterpart was kind of infamous... and you had a lot of friends. And enemies, but more friends. Especially in the under four foot range." Clint gestured with his hand.

[Liara]

“I’m not your wife.” Selene said bluntly.

[Clint Cross]

Clint smiled and raised his glass. "Hey she wasn't when I first started working with her. She was dating some other guy. But we grew closer after a few dozen missions." he gave her a sideways glance. "You're not MY Selene anyway... you and i don't have any of the history we established. Again, I ask... where ARE you planning on going?"
