When it Happens (Don't Mind Me)

[Liara]

She looked away, “I don’t know.”

[Clint Cross]

"Well if you're even half as good as what my Selene was when I first met her, could use another infiltration specialist." Clint offered. "I pay well, I equip well and we just happen to have a free place to stay for you upstairs. Tali's old place." he shrugged his shoulders. "Office is in the lower levels. That is if you're not afraid to find out what another you was capable of."

[Liara]

Selene considered it she honestly had nothing else. What would she do otherwise? Besides this Clint Cross…she didn’t know what it was about him but she felt she could trust him.

“I have one condition…I’m not constantly compared to Selene Cross. I am Selene Lanara and we are different people.” Selene said as Joe handed her another drink this time bourbon to match Clint’s.

[Clint Cross]

"Well it'll happen naturally, you look like her... but we're used to dealing with more than one version of a person." Clint said as he smiled at her. "So uhm... a little briefing then. Do you know who your father is?"

[Liara]

“Yes, and he was an asshole.” Selene said matter of fact as she took a sip of the bourbon. “How dark was your Selene’s past?”

[Clint Cross]

"Pretty fuckin' dark... but we managed to rehabilitate your old man. Ol' Khan Noonian Singh goes by Noonian and married Nick Ryder's sister. You've got a step sister named Nora now." Clint said and pulled out a small padd from his pocket. "Tali's daughter Kinsey's kids are kind of your biggest fans. My adopted son and her daughter Mac are kinda dating. Our infant daughter is too young to be interested in boys, but she likes being around the other kids. She knows how to throw a spoon with deadly accuracy." he sighed and looked at her. "You have a Blackstone in your past? Because they don't exist anymore, we spent the better part of a summer taking them down and acquiring their assets."

[Liara]

“I suppose you can say I do now considering I’m here.” Selene said and shrugged. “Oh well Lucius wouldn’t have cared much about Tali’s escape Jackson however would have been a different story. I knew how to play Lucius. Knew what he desired. Jackson…was something else. I knew what he would have done to my mind if he had caught me.”

“Sorry to interrupt.” Joe said as he sat a large bottle of bourbon on the bar next to Clint. “I open in five minutes. Figured you might want to get her out of sight for the time being. Here are the keys for upstairs.”

[Clint Cross]

"Thanks Joe." Clint said as he took the keys. "C'mon, I'll give you the nickel tour... even comes with a drink at the end." he chuckled. "Well Lucius is long gone. As for Jackson, there's probably more evil versions of him than good. Including the one that's married to Tali's daughter. They both... went way the fuck off the reservation. Ophelia kinda screwed with their heads, just got out of a meeting about if we should track them down or leave them be for a while. We decided the latter. For now. Honestly, we could use a Black Widow. I know the look in your eyes, you're still very much in her headspace, versus the headspace mine was in after we had our daughter. I wouldn't say it softened her but being the assassin wasn't a role she enjoyed as much anymore. Can't say I blame her, it's nice not having to wash someone else's blood out of leather."

[Liara]

“It’s unfortunate all Tali talked about was how they weren’t like my Jackson and K’n’zy. I was interested to meet them because it seemed fantastical. But perhaps they’re all the same.” Selene said as she followed him up the hidden staircase to the apartment. She leaned against the wall and watched him closely as he fought with the key to unlock the door. “You want me to take care of them? There is too much history for anyone else to do it and I would make it painless...for Tali."

[Clint Cross]

"Jack and Kinsey are probably my two best friends, they took us in when nearly everyone thought we were dangerous too. Especially your counterpart. You took a shot at his dad and more than once you were a 'threat', but we managed to work through it." Clint said as he finally got the door open. "So I wouldn't touch them at least for now. Maybe we'll need them at some point but it wasn't entirely their fault. There were more than a few instances where my Selene and I were captured and pretty much taken to our lowest ebb... especially her. One of Lucius' goons a real pyschopath named Hugh took her and pretty much drained her blood in the hopes of using your augment blood to create super soliders, they were more like redheaded goons with minimal IQ other than fighting ability." he shook his head. "Then Bloodstone kinda brainwashed you and activated your programming... that was a real shit show there. So y'know... whatever demons are in your head now, we've probably faced them already so if you need a hand with that." he pointed to himself with his thumbs. "We don't abandon our own. You probably got a whole lot of red ink in your ledger you want to clear right?"
