[Liara]

“Did you always want to be a spy?” Selene inquired as she moved onto the Pad Thai.

[Clint Cross]

"Kind of, I mean I grew up with a dad that was something of a criminal, dragged us kids into it. So I learned early on how to be sneaky and do things without attracting attention, kind of where I got my love of heights, was a lot easier to avoid people when you're way up high than when you're on the ground." Clint said before he took another bite and smiled slightly. "Then my birth mom and foster dad sort of got me into archery, really wanted to get into the Olympics like ma, trained for months and then the IOC found out I had a criminal record and booted me out so fast. Starfleet Intel offered to expunge my record and here I am. I just like being able to actually make an effect on things, you take out a foreign power or a smuggling operation or a human trafficking ring, you see the results pretty fast. Kids being able to go to school, cities actually going from shit holes and becoming well... still shit holes, but at least they're safer. It's just frustrating of late, we take out one threat and a new one always crops up. Like whack a mole."

[Liara]

“Whack a what?” Selene inquired with a raised eyebrow and shook her head. “You’re a good man Cross. I’ve always been an assassin my father made sure of it.”

[Clint Cross]

"Whack a mole, it's a carnival game. Little plastic moles pop up out of holes, you have to hit the moles to win. " Clint said as he chuckled. "That's another date night plan..." he sighed and nodded his head. "So can I ask... do you WANT to be an assassin... a spy? I mean, just because you're good at it, doesn't mean you have to be that forever. Kind of the reason why I have a gym that I have ownership in. If I ever get too burnt out, I have a job I can do that still uses my skills." he gestured to the box. "I'm sure you found a bunch of Cross Archery stuff in there, I... kinda went a little nuts with gear, everything from onesies to bibs, to underwear, shirts, pants, hats, shoes... you name it... I ordered it."

[Liara]

“Thongs.” Selene laughed.”Oh yes I did find some. As for being an assassin...I don’t know how to be anything else. It’s all I’ve ever known.”

[Clint Cross]

"Well I can certainly make sure you get enough to do." Clint said and had some of the Pad Thai. "But I wanted to at least ask, sometimes... people never get asked. They're just given orders and pigeonholed into a role and they never can get past it."

[Liara]

“Well I’ll make a deal with you Cross. If you ever think it’s getting to me you can ask me again and I won’t stab you in the eye. If you think I can’t take it any more you can find me a new purpose in life. I’m highly trainable.” Selene said as she looked over at him. “But my training runs deep. I’ve been doing this since I was a child. I wouldn’t be easy to do something else even if I wanted.”

[Clint Cross]

"Agreed... and you're probably the best assassin I've ever encountered." Clint said as he gestured to her with his fork. "I've seen you .. Selene...kill a man with a spoon."

[Liara]

“I have killed a man with a spoon.” Selene said with a smirk. “When I was 19. Mission went sideways and I had to improvise. My father wasn’t happy but Lucius was able to remind him I still completed it.”

[Clint Cross]

"Yeah, that sounds about right." Clint nodded his head and looked at her. "I think that was one thing I always admired in her, that think on your feet, get whatever it takes to do a job."
