The Way Out is Through

Aimee laughed, "Wow that's weird. Goes to show what I know. And what do I know?" She smirked, "I may not be a 5th generation freight hauler, but I am a former Starfleet and Imperium captain, and I have been hauling freight for a few years now. I think I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing."

[Olivia Ryder]

"You have done a remarkable job, Kirby's impressed and her family's been running freight and smuggling since her grandfather bought his first J-Type." Olivia chuckled. "So it's high praise. Besides, we both have families... we need to do something that will ensure we turn into little old ladies. I was going through a storage crate that Emperor Kai sent over from one of mom's old store houses. Found one of my old spy gear bags, from when I was about 17. I found twenty of the thirty knives and blades I had in the lining, still had one of my old tactical suits, can't believe how many holes were in it and a well worn phaser, you remember how those old cobra head phasers were? With the ridged handles. Mine was smooth from being held so much. I had to put a sticker on the power meter to keep it from popping out." she shook her head. "I have risked my tiny ass for almost my entire life. Singing on a stage and sitting my ass in a chair behind a desk... that sounds like a hell of a retirement."

Aimee slid the now sleeping twins into the stroller and returned to her seat. Sipping her coffee she frowned. Setting the now tepid coffee down she flagged down a waiter, "Can I get another black coffee please?"

"Of course ma'am," the waiter replied and turned to fill the order.

Sighing she looked around and grinned, "I can think of worse ways to retire that's for sure. I always used space as way to hide rather than face my problems. You made me face them. You seen me at my worst, and you are still at my side. If that isn't friendship I don't know what is."

"You needed someone in your corner and I needed a confidant, besides... you're not nearly as unlovable as you think you are." Olivia pointed at the twins. "They sure love time with their mommy. I still can't get over how those two can sleep through a practice session. Gotta be the Klingon in them."

[Aimee Sandoval]

"Has to be something," Aimee agreed. "Even if it is only a quarter Klingon. Either way we've done very well for ourselves despite where we started. Dougal's talking about wanting a kid of his own." She shrugged, "Personally I'm good with two. Did you know he already has names picked out? Rupert if it's a boy Marsali if it's a girl. What man thinks like that? I thought they limited their brains to booze, something mechanical, and sex. Here he is planning a family. To be fair he does need an heir to the Clan holdings."

Olivia chuckled at that. "Yeah true... such an archaic system. Still, not entirely shocked. It does tend to come up after a while. Ethan was like 'oh naw kids... pfft we live such dangerous lives, that's a dumb idea.' then... 'y'know babe we should try to have some kids while we're still young enough to handle it.' " she took a sip of her coffee. "Still your call though. Those kids are still heir enough by marriage."

"True, but will the clan accept an heir that doesn't share the blood of their Laird? They might just make someone else of the clan their tanist. Dougal's second cousin perhaps. Trust me he's explained all of this to me, and honestly I don't give a rats behind about it at all, but it's important to him."

[Olivia Ryder]

"Would you have married him if you didn't entertain the possibility that you might give him a kid?" Olivia raised an eyebrow. "I never wanted them at first, hell, it took a couple years to get all the anti fertility drugs out of my system before we could get his swimmers to take hold. I doubt you've been on them since you were sixteen right?"

"Of course I would, that's a very silly question. It's just that.... well... twins!" She let out an exhausted exclamation. "I haven't slept more than a few hours at a time since they were born. I am definitely not ready for another child if I want to retain what little semblance of my sanity I have left!"

[Olivia Ryder]

"You do realize that I've been able to help you and so has Lana." Olivia replied and sipped her coffee. "Hell, I even strapped on a fake set of milking breasts to help feed them when little Livvy was having that gas problem and couldn't take a bottle. I will always be there for you and your kids. But yeah... twins like these, take a LOT out of you. Took until Vin and Lana were at least walking until I felt like I was getting my usual mojo back." she glanced over at Lana who was talking to a few teenagers at a corner table. "I'd kill anyone who ever tried to hurt any of these kids."
