Another Crashed Car

"I know... well, when we do finally leave, I'll have our realtor look for a new place for us, something with a more green around us and more hidden. I suppose I can always give the old loft to Kirby and Olivia when they need to stay in the city, keep it in the family. Or Kassie and Jason, she's due pretty soon too." Nick rolled his eyes. "Angel's pregnant with twins, at least that's what she told Liv. Jena's pregnant. This family is getting larger by the month. Only a matter of time before Mac and JT have a kid. Or Kassie's mom and Big Vin. As if I wouldn't find out they eloped. I was backing one of her movies."

Alice laughed, “I suppose this trip gets us out of having to buy baby gifts.”

"Or it delays it." Nick said with a laugh and shook his head. "They'll want interest. Still, I'm happy the way the family's turned out. And marrying you was the best decision I had ever made."

“Oh I will not debate you on that fact Nicholas.” Alice grinned.

"Yeah, I think when this is all over, we're going to find a more peaceful place to live and I'll restrain myself from getting involved in major battles unless absolutely necessary. At least until Gale's grown up a bit. Maybe just teach or consult, but I'm tired of putting you and Gale at risk."

“Or at least no more cars falling from the sky.” Alice said as she looked into his eyes. “I’ve never been more frightened in My life.”

"Yeah... that shook me pretty bad. I'm used to being fired at on a starship, but my loft? Uhm... no." NIck shook his head. "Well, maybe with us off the board, maybe this'll resolve, all the people that we've put around us, they'll find a way. Or... maybe we'll find a solution here and we can leak it to them."

“As soon as you learn to read Xenexian.” Alice laughed softly.

"I... sort of do. For the most part. Jack thinks I have a third grader's grasp of the language, which I'm not sure is good or bad, but it's passable. Ish." Nick replied. "He was trying to teach me a little mainly because the Xenexian colony was insisting that they use native Xenexian writing for official communications. Then I got captured and well... learning more about it was hardly a priority. They did manage to translate the Hobbit into Xenexian which helped me, I read that so many times as a kid."

Alice laughed softly, “Maybe we’ll stay deeper in the cave while you play with the Xenexian toys. What do you say Gale...? Looks like someone is asleep already.”
