Another Crashed Car

"Whatever we do, we're going to be together. As a husband and a father, I can't abide by this." Nick said as he got up and hugged her. "I am ready to do whatever it takes so you and Gale are safe." he held her hands and looked into her eyes. "We did what we could and I'm not going to lose you or Gale because someone's trying to get to us. Xenex is only a temporary fix to the problem, a nice vacation, but it's only a matter of time before we're drawn back into this and I'm... I'm not. And I would rather be missed than looked at as someone who sat back and let whatever happen happen. If what happened with Jackson happened how everyone thought it did, that we died that day at the Capitol building... they'd be dealing with this without us. They'd have to step up and figure it out. Right? The year or whatever they got with us back, that's a bonus. We got our son back, we tried to make it work... " he sighed heavily and looked into her eyes. "If I had lost you or Gale... I'd be gone regardless. Till death do us part doesn't mean, until our enemies kill us. It means I want to watch our son grow into a man, it means spending our lives together until we're both old... "

“I love you Nicholas and I’ll go wherever you want bu we need to be sure.” Alice said as she held onto him. “I just want us to be together. I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t come. No matter what I said. I really hoped you would.”

"And I would have come. Even if it took me a minute to get my head out of my arse." Nick chuckled and rested his head on her's. "I'd have followed you. So... let's just leave this, stay out of the way of things and just leave a message thing on Xenex, that when things have normalized again, come find us." he hummed. "Besides, the early 23rd wasn't horrible, at least before the Klingon War, but that's the beauty of that era, so many records were lost, so much tech was lost. Really, nothing we do, unless we like did a first contact or developed some tech that put us into the history books. We can even go back to Earth if you want, London even. Let our son develop a proper accent."

[Alice Ryder]

"I feel even worse for wiping Rommie's memory now." Alice said. "Take us to wherever you think we'll be least in the way and where no one will be suspicious if things magically catch on fire."

[Nick Ryder]

"I think I know a good place..." Nick said with a smile. "We'll blend in, but there's enough around us. Alien races are still sort of new there, but people don't bat an eye if anything 'weird' happens." he sat back down at the helm and set a course. "Alright, so we'll take a different route, then we do the classic slingshot, it's not nearly as reliable, but like I said, we get within the right range, we'll be fine. I'll also be able to access some of the hidden S31 caches, we'll be able to survive off the grid for a while until we can establish ourselves." he sighed and turned around in his chair. "We should probably record some message for the family, our friends. So they don't try looking for us."

[Alice Ryder]

"Send something to Clint." Alice said. "This is his shuttle I'm sure the connection would be secure. He'll make sure the don't look too hard if he hasn't figure it out already. Selene always said he was smarter than he looked."

[Nick Ryder]

Nick nodded his head and set up a camera drone to record them.

"Hey, I'm pretty sure you all know why we're doing this. Shuttle kamikaze's into our house, it was the last straw." Nick put his hand into Alice's. "We've tried to get our lives back to some semblance of normal since our return, but this isn't working. I have no doubt that that Dominus and his minions will be defeated and that some of you will step up and find a way." he looked at Alice. "There comes a time when we have to do what we have to do. I'll miss everyone, but please, don't look for us. There isn't anything we can do that someone else can't do. We've done our bit for long enough. Otherwise, what are we fighting for? Alice... anything you want to add?"

"Clint...I'm really sorry about Rommie." Alice said glanced back at Gale. "Tell Bella I'm sorry we left without saying goodbye. I know how much Gale means to her but I know she'll understand probably better than anyone else. Also, this time it was my idea."

[Nick Ryder]

"We love all of you, but we have to take care of our young son and these past couple years, have taken their toll on us. And we could be back before you miss us or... we'll be gone a very long time. Don't count us for dead, but don't expect us back anytime soon. Natalia, Noonian I trust you can take care of our lab and our discoveries. Angel, lead like I know you're capable of. Olivia, Kirby, Lana and Vin... be authentic to yourselves. Clint you and Decker can use Alpha Section as you see fit. In my absence, Malcolm has direct command. Mom, have Kirby or whoever wants to run the bar keep the place going. It's what dad always wanted to see, so keep it in the family. Becca, Tigris is your's when and if you need it." he sighed. "Again, don't try to find us, just... do what you would have done if we never came back from Jackson's and Dominus' capture."

"Good bye and we love all of you so much." Alice said as she wiped at her eyes.
